A Brewing Legacy Dating Back to 1702

The Sullivan family began brewing in Kilkenny in 1702, earning a reputation for innovation and quality long before “craft beer” had a name. This lineage, shared with the historic Smithwick family, shaped Ireland’s brewing culture for centuries. Revived in 2016, Sullivan’s Brewery Kilkenny now carries forward that tradition using Kilkenny-grown barley, small-batch methods and a dedication to flavour that has earned international recognition, including Best Draught Ale in the World for Maltings Irish Red Ale.

Here you’ll find our full range of craft beers on tap, from Maltings Red Ale to Irish Gold and Black Marble Stout, along with a carefully selected rotation of guest brews, making us one of only two true craft beer pubs in Kilkenny. Food is served 7 days a week, featuring our signature stand-stretched pizzas, burgers, wings, loaded nachos and daily favourites.

Inside, the Taproom is warm and lively, while outside our spacious beer garden and heated pods offer year-round comfort. Live music, seasonal events and brewery-inspired gatherings keep the atmosphere buzzing.
