Getting to Sullivan’s Taproom Kilkenny
Sullivan’s Taproom is located at 15 John Street Lower, Kilkenny, right at the edge of the city’s Medieval Mile. We’re easy to reach on foot from anywhere in Kilkenny, and well connected to Ireland’s main transport routes, making us a convenient stop for visitors travelling from across the country.
From Kilkenny Castle, walk down the Parade toward Rose Inn Street, continue across John’s Bridge and you’ll see Sullivan’s Taproom on your right, only a 5-minute stroll from the castle gates.
Arriving by Car
Kilkenny is well signposted from all major routes, with motorway connections from Dublin, Cork, Waterford and Limerick. Once you reach the city, follow signs for John Street. Public parking is available just a short walk away, including Ormonde Street Car Park, Market Yard Car Park and John Street Upper.
Arriving by Bus
National routes operated by JJ Kavanagh, Dublin Coach and Bus Éireann link Kilkenny with major cities and towns. Most services stop at Ormonde Street, which is only 5 minutes on foot from the Taproom.
Arriving by Train
If you’re coming from Dublin, Waterford or the east coast, Kilkenny Train Station (McDonagh Station) offers regular connections throughout the day. It’s an easy 10–12 minute walk to Sullivan’s Taproom from the station, or a brief taxi hop if you prefer.
International Visitors

From Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport is the closest international gateway. The journey to Kilkenny takes around 1 hour 40 minutes by car, or roughly 2 hours using a combination of airport coach and rail services.
From Cork Airport
Cork Airport is around 1 hour 45 minutes by car from Kilkenny. You can also reach the city by taking a bus to Cork Kent Station and connecting by train.
From Shannon Airport
Shannon Airport is approximately 2 hours by car, with public transport available via Limerick City and onward train services.
